About the book
The Fox’s Footprint is a detective novel characterized by two stories: the story of the crime and the story of the investigation. The fictional setting in which the narratives take place is the Dogon country, located in the heart of Mali. The first story is marked by the mysterious deaths of Antandou and Nèmègo, while the second revolves around Commissioner Habib’s reconstruction of the investigative history to unveil the identity of the criminal.
In The Fox’s Footprint, Moussa Konaté describes, on one hand, the crimes suffered by Malian authorities and, on the other, the organization of Malian society in solving these crimes. The depicted worlds are subject to dual jurisdiction: the modern jurisdiction represented by Commissioner Habib and the traditional jurisdiction represented by the custodians of traditional values.
